2024 Volkswagen Golf May Lose Its Manual Transmission
A new and improved Volkswagen Golf is expected in 2024 and will come with a redesigned interior look. A significant change could come by removing its manual gearbox from the 2024 Golf model. This could be a big deal for some customers because it’s the end of an era if the Volkswagen Golf loses its manual gearbox. Volkswagen is one of many car brands that may discontinue manual transmissions, but only time will tell if this will officially be the case.
Top-Selling Hatchback
A hatchback vehicle that remains a fan favorite is the Volkswagen Golf, which is a top-selling car. The Volkswagen Golf has been a top choice since 1974, and consumers can choose from a few different models. Other hatchbacks have a hard time competing against the Golf vehicles, and to prove that, the VW Golf won “Car of the Year” in 2009 and 2013. The Golf was initially made to replace the Beetle, but instead, Volkswagen automakers produced a vehicle with a standard front-wheel-drive and front engine that can be water-cooled over air-cooled.
The exterior look of the Golf is simple and sporty but still has a very distinct design, with an affordable price and impressive capabilities. A 2022 VW Golf base level has a 2-liter four-cylinder engine with 241 horsepower. It can reach 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and has proven over and over again how impressive its performance is.
VW Golf Brand Becoming Electric
Customers are excited to know that the Volkswagen Golf will most likely enter the EV world. The Volkswagen Golf will probably be riding alongside its ID vehicle series. In 2020, Volkswagen no longer continued making its e-golf electric vehicle as the automaker focused on a new stage of EVs. Last year, the production of its Golf models ended in North America, but the Golf brand is still ongoing.
Alongside Ford and GM, Volkswagen is making popular car brands electric and is doing so with the ID brand. There are plans to make something other than making the Golf brand with a number like the ID.3 but rather follow suit like the ID.Buzz and call it ‘ID Golf.’ Rumors were going around about the ID.3 replacing the VW Golf, but for Volkswagen, these are two very different cars. The eighth-generation Golf model plans to retire between 2027 and 2028 to accommodate the ‘ID Golf.’ The VW Golf is a trendy car model amongst consumers, so it only makes sense to have it transition to being electric.
