2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Comes With Major Upgrades
Major updates come to the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 interior, which includes more power and a better infotainment setup. The power increases are due to new motors from the ID.7 model; the most significant difference is the rear-wheel drive for the ID.4 car models. To prove this, the horsepower goes from 201 to 282, and the all-wheel-drive goes from 295 to 330 horsepower.
As for the infotainment, the upgrades also come from the ID.7 and improve the ID.4 immensely. It’s better customizable, the climate menu is easier to use, and the screen is now 12.9 inches with lit-up slider touch buttons. The new and improved Volkswagen ID.4 will be hitting dealerships soon and will be eligible for full federal tax credits, which is a significant plus for car buyers.
ID.4 Tax Credit
There is excellent news for the electric Volkswagen ID.4 crossover SUV, which is how the ID.4 can get a full $7,500 federal EV tax credit for all trim levels. Volkswagen is the first international automaker to have an electric vehicle that can get full credit. Initially, the ID.4 was not on the EV list to qualify for the tax credit, but the federal government recently added it back.
When the $7,500 tax credit is added, the ID.4 will be one of the most affordable EVs. The Inflation Reduction Act sanctions the tax credit and has very specific rules that have to be followed for assembly, battery materials, and the supply chain. To qualify for the tax credit, the EV and its battery need to be sourced and built in North America or with an approved trade partner.
ID.4 Alexa-Guided Test Drive System
Amazon and Volkswagen announced a plan to collaborate on an innovative way for a futuristic automotive test drive. Coming soon (in select areas), customers can schedule an in-person Alexa-guided test drive of Volkswagen’s ID.4 SUV vehicle. This process involves a customer walking around the car with a Volkswagen Product Specialist. Eventually, the customer will take off on a real-world test drive with Amazon Alexa as their passenger.
The Alexa-guided test drive will speak through an Echo Auto device on the car’s dashboard. For about 30 minutes, the driver will be free to drive around in the ID.4 SUV on their terms. As the driver gets acquainted with how the car drives, they can ask Alexa any question about more information on the electric vehicle’s performance, etc. Alexa will answer all questions with an appropriate response. Having Alexa is a great way to get a feel for the Volkswagen’s ID.4 SUV electric vehicle on and off the road. Alexa can share any information about the ID. 4’s features include the car’s battery, charging, blind spot monitor, connecting to infotainment, cost, and much more.
The Test Drive with Alexa program, made with Amazon Ads and Amazon Web Services, helps answer any participant’s questions and is responded to clearly and concisely. The goal of this is for Volkswagen to help grow EV education. With this program, Volkswagen hopes the driver can experience the car independently without that added pressure.
