A New Remodel Is Coming To The Final ICE-Powered Volkswagen Golf
Volkswagen is getting ready to debut the last ICE-powered version of the Golf model before it goes electric. The model getting an update is the Golf MK8, expected sometime in 2024. Back in 2023, a few spy shots were captured of the VW Golf, proving this new vehicle comes with an exterior new design. Other trim levels have also been spotted like the GTI model which still offers a gas engine.
As for the interior, the new Golf model will offer a larger touchscreen (like the 15-inch one in the VW ID.7) but lower trim levels will have a 12.9-inch screen instead. It also seems like Volkswagen will bring back physical buttons for the Golf, offer the “Smart Air Vents” (like in the ID.7) and include the advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). In terms of the powertrains, the last ICE-powered Golf will be the final model before Volkswagen becomes an all-electric brand by 2033. The official Golf MK8 should debut itself sometime in 2024 and customers can’t wait for this hatchback to arrive in local dealerships.
Golf Brand Becoming Electric
Customers are excited to learn that the Volkswagen Golf will most likely be entering the EV world. The Volkswagen Golf will probably be riding alongside its ID vehicle series. In 2020, Volkswagen no longer continued making its e-golf electric vehicle as the automaker focused on a new stage of EVs. Last year, the production of its Golf models ended in North America, but that doesn’t mean that the Golf brand is finished forever.
Alongside Ford and GM, Volkswagen is making popular car models electric, and is doing so via its ID brand. There aren’t plans about making the Golf brand with a number like the ID.3 but rather follow suit like the ID.Buzz and call it ‘ID Golf’ Rumors were going around about the ID.3 replacing the VW Golf, but for Volkswagen, these are two very different cars. The eighth-generation Golf model plans to retire between 2027 and 2028 to make room for the ‘ID Golf.’ The VW Golf is a trendy car model amongst consumers, so it only makes sense to have it transition to being electric.
ID.7 Smart Air Vents
A big part of any vehicle is the air conditioning system, and the Volkswagen ID.7 takes it a bit further by having a specific system in place. The ID.7 will have an air conditioning system that achieves speedier cooling or heating even before the driver arrives. The air vents in the vehicle are electronically powered, and air will flow inside as soon as the driver gets closer while holding the key. Another cool feature of this new air conditioning system is that it responds to voice commands and analyzes where the position of the sun and also what the driver prefers.
All these excellent features ensure how impressive this new vehicle will be not only on the outside but also on the inside. A sneak-peak into the Volkswagen ID.7 at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas was showcased as a camouflage concept vehicle. Once the car doors open and it’s hot out, the smart air vents push cold air quickly throughout the vehicle’s interior.
Passengers seated in the car can position the air vents to blow air onto their bodies or can be moved to cool the area of the car. Currently, the ID.7 is the very first Volkswagen model to have such a smart control system. The function for climate control can be found on the all-new 15-inch infotainment touchscreen display. The direction of the air vents and strength can be modified and saved per person.
