An All-Electric Volkswagen Scout Pickup Truck And SUV Is Heading To The U.S.

Volkswagen announced its plans to bring back the symbolic Scout by making an all-electric pickup truck and SUV for the United States. This announcement took customers not only by surprise but also Volkswagen U.S. dealers–with specific attention if a new company was in the works called Scout Motors. It still isn’t clear if there will be a new brand, but Volkswagen is very serious about bringing back the classic all-electric Scout pickup and SUV.
There hasn’t been much news about the Volkswagen Scout vehicles besides the release of two design pictures. The only thing released besides photos is that the automaker said that the all-electric pickup and SUV would be rugged vehicles engineered and manufactured for the U.S. The Scout pickup truck and SUV will be true off-roaders and will be made as standalone models. It was said by a member of the vintage International Harvester Scout community, Jeff Bade, that the Scout all-electric off-roaders won’t be based on the same platform as the EVs, such as the V.W. ID.4 or the V.W. ID. Buzz.
Other than the ID.4 and ID. Buzz for the VW electric vehicle lineup is the e-Golf, ID.3 and ID.5. Unfortunately, the e-Golf has been discontinued but any customer is still able to buy the 2019 model from most dealerships. The e-Golf has a range of 125 miles and if anyone is a fan of the Golf but wants the electric vehicle version, then no customer can go wrong with the electric version. For the ID.3, there are three available battery choices to choose from: the 45kWh, 58kWh, and the 77kWh. The ID.3 is a sleeker and sporty-looking vehicle with a nice interior. Lastly, the ID.5 is mostly a coupe version of the ID.4. The ID.5 comes with a 77kWh battery and has a mile range of 314.
There is currently no set price for the Scout pickup and SUV, but a fundamental goal for Volkswagen is to make the Scout efficient and affordable. The hope is that these vehicles will make their debut in the United States around the year 2026. The vehicles will have the same features as rival models, like rear-wheel steering, adjustable suspension, and more. With just the two sketches released, there isn’t much information to go on but what can be seen of the Scout is that these vehicles will be eye pleasers.
