GTI & GLI Limited Edition Cars Join 2024 Volkswagen Lineup
Volkswagen adds a bit of special treatment to some sportier smaller cars, whereas, the Arteon and GTI models that use a stick shift will come to an end. The 2024 Volkswagen lineup will include GTI and GLI limited edition vehicles which means certain models will be sticking around. As for the GTI 40th anniversary models, it comes with a special package for only manual cars. The Jetta GLI gets new rims for 2024 but the Arteon full-size sedan and GTI’s manual transmission are ending after this year.
2023 Volkswagen Arteon
As the new midsize sedan in town, the Arteon offers more horsepower, a bigger engine, and up-to-date features. Some new features include LED headlights, front fog lights, a light bar, a heated steering wheel, plus so much more. The highest trim level is the SEL Premium R-Line, and it comes with 20-inch wheels, a black trim interior, and surrounding lighting features with 30 different color choices.
Under the hood, a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine produces 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. There is an option for front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, and both come with a 7-speed automatic transmission. All trim levels for the 2023 Arteon have a sleek, stylish, and sporty exterior design, so no matter which trim level is chosen, there will be no disappointment. As for the trunk, there are 27.2 cubic feet of storage space, and when the backseats are folded down, that space grows to 56.2 cubic feet. Across all Arteon trims, wireless app-connect, wireless charging, and an 8-speaker sound system are standard.
2023 Golf GTI 40th Anniversary Edition
To celebrate Volkswagen GTI turning 40 this year (the US version), there will be a 2023 special 40th Anniversary Edition GTI model. The 2023 special edition vehicle comes with 40th-anniversary badging and exclusive colors of Tornado Red, Urano Gray, Opal White Pearl, and Pomelo Yellow Metallic. Another added feature will be that the roof, wheels, and mirror caps come in black.
For the interior design, buyers can enjoy the original plaid cloth seats found on the S and SE trims. The platform for the 40th Anniversary Edition is of the entry-level S trim, with added items saved for the top-sec Autobahn. This includes adaptive dampers, 19-inch wheels with 235-35 summer tires, and speed-sensitive steering. Volkswagen stated that the redline-accented wheels come from the European GTI Clubsport 45.
This special edition vehicle has the same 241-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 as all the other U.S. GTI models. The starting price for the S trim is $30,530 (plus destination fee), the SE starts at $35,330 (plus destination fee), and the Autobahn trim begins at around $39,070 (plus destination fee). The VW 40th Anniversary Edition will also be available in North America, limited to 1,500 units. Once the 2023 Golf GTI 40th Anniversary Edition goes on sale, it will cost $33,055 (plus destination fee) with the manual transmission, and the cost for the automatic will be $33,855 (plus destination fee). More features that come with the extra $3,000 cost are 19-inch alloy wheels, a lit-up grille, the number “40” appearing on the door sills, the bottom of the steering wheel, and a manual shift knob.
