New Improvements Come to the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4

The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 did well with its sales and it’s expected that the 2024 model will do even better because of the improvements it will receive. One of the new upgrades for this smaller SUV is how it will gain more power because of a new rear motor which brings the horsepower to 282 and the lb-ft of torque to 402. Another upgrade is how the touchscreen grows from 12.0 inches to 12.9 inches and will have HVAC controls at the bottom of the screen to make it easier to activate certain features. This also goes for new buttons on the steering wheel to activate certain controls instead of having to use the touchscreen.
The starting cost of the 2024 VW ID.4 is $41,160 (plus destination fee) for the base model and all versions are eligible for the $7,500 Federal tax credit. Having the Federal tax credit is a major deal because it’s one of the few electric vehicles that does and it helps bring down the cost of the car immensely. Let’s dive into what the 2023 model has to offer to see what other features may carry over to the 2024 version.
2023 ID.4
There is a new Volkswagen manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, TN, home to the2023 VW ID.4. The new ID.4 is an electric vehicle with many updated features. However, the design still sticks to loyal VW customers. Just because the ID.4 is an EV doesn’t mean it takes away from the original gas-powered VW look and feel. Any driver will notice the changes but will still know it’s keeping to the original roots of any Volkswagen vehicle.
New features for the ID.4 include a standard 12-inch infotainment screen, intelligent park assist, USB-C charging, new wheel designs, and more. Plug and Charge charging is available at Electrify America stations. For the interior of the car, there are leather seats and door paneling with a high-quality instrument cluster. There are also buttons on the steering wheel, CarPlay, and Android Auto. The ID.4 seats up to five passengers comfortably and has good storage space. Higher trim models offer heated and cooled seats and a seat massage feature.
The vehicle’s exterior stays the same as last year’s model, plus a few added features, like, park assist and Memory park functions. The most affordable car is the 62kWh entry-level ID.4, and the price starts at $37,495 (plus destination fee) and offers 209 miles of range and 201 horsepower. Another model is the ID.4 Pro which is a RWD that has an 82 kWh battery that has up to 275 miles of range for a cost of $42,495 (plus destination fee) and has a 201 horsepower motor. Lastly, the ID.4 AWD Pro has 295 horsepower with 255 miles of range for $46,295 (plus destination fee). It’s nice to know that any customer who wants to transition to an electric vehicle can do so by still staying loyal to the Volkswagen brand.
ID.4 Federal Tax Credit
There is excellent news for the electric Volkswagen ID.4 crossover SUV, which is how the ID.4 can get a full$7,500 federal EV tax credit for all trim levels. Volkswagen is the first international automaker to have an electric vehicle that can get full credit. Initially, the ID.4 was not on the EV list to qualify for the tax credit, but the federal government recently added it back on.
When the $7,500 tax credit is added, the ID.4 will be one of the most affordable EVs. The Inflation Reduction Act sanctions the tax credit and has very specific rules that have to be followed for assembly, battery materials, and the supply chain. To qualify for the tax credit, the EV and its battery need to be sourced and built in North America or with an approved trade partner.
