The All-New Volkswagen ID.GTI Electric Car Will Arrive By 2026

The Volkswagen brand has officially announced a new fully-electric GTI model, arriving sometime in 2026. The ID.GTI follows the upcoming ID.2all electric car. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of information to go on but it’s expected to get over 228 horsepower. Volkswagen is working hard to make the cost of the ID.GTI very affordable, but the upcoming model will most likely slot above the ID.2all. At this time, it’s not confirmed if the ID.GTI will ever be sold outside of Europe, but our fingers are crossed that it makes its way to the US.
More On The ID.GTI
Volkswagen recently received its next fully-electric car, introducing the ID.GTI, but the automaker has yet to mention anything about it coming to the United States. The ID.GTI is a similar model to the ID.2 showcased earlier this year (2024), and they were made on the same MEB Entry platform. There is still a lot left to learn about this new Volkswagen car, but it’s rumored it will use the bigger two ID.2 battery packs to support quicker charging.
What is known is that the ID.GTI will be smaller than the current GTI and be more similar in size to the European Polo than the current Golf model. The hope is that eventually, the Volkswagen ID.GTI Concept will come to America, but it’s only European-based. As for the ID.2, it will go on sale in Europe in 2026, with the GTI following behind the following year.
VW ID.2all
There will be another electric vehicle joining the Volkswagen lineup, and that is the ID. 2all and will hit the European market in 2025. A big feature of this EV is its starting price of less than 25,000 euros. The new vehicle will be built on the MEB platform and will be the first MEB vehicle offering front-wheel drive.
“We are transforming the company rapidly and fundamentally – with the clear objective of making Volkswagen a genuine Love Brand. The ID. 2all shows where we want to take the brand. We want to be close to the customer and offer top technology in combination with fantastic design. We are implementing the transformation at pace to bring electric mobility to the masses.” -Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars.
The ID. 2all comes with battery and charging technology and its motor will have an output of 166 kW/226 PS. In terms of the interior of the ID. 2all, it has up to date technology features, good storage space and has an impressive appearance. The ID. 2all is one of ten new EVs that will be showcased by Volkswagen in 2026. Other new Volkswagen vehicles that will be launched this year are the ID.3, ID.Buzz and the ID.7.
We are transferring the typical Volkswagen virtues to the new world of mobility: top quality and workmanship, outstanding software, and digital services with genuine added value. The focus here is always on the needs and requirements of our customers.” -Imelda Labbé, Member of the Brand Board of Management responsible for Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales.
Volkswagen has a big goal ahead of them because they are working on an EV that will cost less than 20,000 euros and also plans on accomplishing an electric car share of 80 percent in Europe. Volkswagen sure is doing a wonderful job keeping up with its competitors and continues to release one great car after the next.
