Volkswagen Continues To Work On The Off-Road ID.Ruggeddzz
Back in 2020, the Volkswagen ID.Ruggdzz, a battery-electric vehicle, was rumored to have joined the ID lineup alongside the ID.Buzz on the MEB platform. It’s reported that the ID.Ruggdzz is still being made and is now on the same platform as the new Volkswagen Amarok. Volkswagen designers had an idea for a concept Ruggeddzz when it was supposed to be made in 2023, but this EV has yet to be showcased. Currently, the electric Amarok SUV will be the most realistic, and of course, there will be the Scout EV which consumers can’t wait to get their hands on.
2024 ID.Buzz
If the 2024 Volkswagen ID. Buzz looks familiar, that is because the design of this new electric vehicle is based on the iconic Type 2 Microbus, which inspired the retro design—the VW ID. Buzz had sold out in Europe months before customer deliveries were supposed to happen. Having these vans grabbed quickly shows how much of a hot commodity they are. ID. Buzz production started in May. The cars aren’t expected to be delivered until October in mainland Europe.
The U.S. version features flexible seating and three rows that seat seven. The front seats have adjustable armrests and tables that fold out of the backrests for rear-seating passengers. Another great perk of this vehicle is the storage space which offers up to 40 cubic feet. This proves how spacious the vehicle is for the whole family. The expected starting rate for this E.V. van is around $40,000 (plus destination fee). Here are some exterior colors for the new SUV: Lime Yellow/Candy White and Starlight Blue/Candy White.
This vehicle comes with rear- and all-wheel-drive, delivering a driving range of around 260 miles. The van will be able to charge its battery from 5-80 percent in 30 minutes. The company plans to introduce a plug-and-charge technology that eliminates the need to use an app or a card for payment to unlock the charger. The American ID. Buzz will get 260 miles of range per charge. This SUV has a touchscreen that is 10.0 inches, and a 12.0-inch display is optional. The expected I.D. Buzz should come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless device charging.
Scout All-Electric SUV
Recently, Volkswagen announced they are bringing back the Scout brand as an all-electric off-road vehicle. This announcement took customers not only by surprise but also Volkswagen U.S. dealers–with specific attention to a new company in the works called Scout Motors. The automaker said the all-electric SUV would be a rugged vehicle engineered and manufactured for the U.S. The Scout SUV will be a proper off-roader made as a standalone model.
There is currently no set price for the Scout SUV, but a fundamental goal for Volkswagen is to make the Scout efficient and affordable. The vehicle will have the same features as rival models, like rear-wheel steering, adjustable suspension, and more. With just a few sketches and photographs released, there is little information to go on, but what can be seen of the Scout is that this vehicle will be an eye-pleaser.
