Volkswagen ID. Buzz: Newest EV For North America
Volkswagen is getting ready to start bringing the electric ID. Buzz to North America in 2024. This electric van will even have a long-wheelbase model that can seat seven passengers and includes a large battery to improve its range. Every ID. Buzz vehicles for North America will be made at Volkswagen’s plant in Hanover, Germany.

Vanagon Syncros
Many consumers remember the Type 2 generation from the 1960s and 1970s for the Volkswagen van. Volkswagen debuted a more extensive Type 2 in 1979, but in 1985, they delivered an all-wheel-drive alternative named the Vanagon Syncro. The Syncros has a 2.1-liter gasoline engine and produces 95 horsepower and 117 lb-ft of torque. There is a four-speed manual transmission, and VW even updated a few features, including a better air conditioning system, improved gearboxes, and a tachometer.
The Vanagon Syncros has bigger brakes, strengthened bodywork, a larger wheelbase, and bigger CV joints. Another critical factor to this van was how it handled itself off-road. This vehicle is still a fan favorite with overlanders and campers because of its capabilities and comfy interior. An owner of this van can request how much seating the van comes with, its sleeping arrangements, and cooking options.
Volkswagen last sold a van in America quite some time ago, but this will change with the ID.Buzz and this can open the door for Volkswagen to bring back the Syncro or something similar. Volkswagen’s MEB platform accommodates and can hold vehicles of all sizes—the ID.Buzz has a flatter floor and is very roomy because the electric powertrain is the only thing under the van’s floor. Consumers still have hope that Volkswagen will bring back the Syncro and have updated modern features.
