Volkswagen Introduces The Jetta GLI Performance Concept At The SEMA Show

At the 2022 SEMA show, Volkswagen introduced a brand new concept car, the Volkswagen Jetta GLI Performance Concept. The Jetta GLI Performance Concept was made in the 2022 Jetta GLI Autobahn, and it comes with six-speed manual transmission. The Jetta GLI first appeared in 1984; its nickname is “GTI with a trunk,” which has been referenced for many years. Volkswagen’s Design Center California used a few features from the GLI’s deep history, revamping the rework of the Jetta GLI Performance Concept’s exterior look and the groundwork.
“The Jetta GLI concept was an opportunity for our team to draw from our passion for motorsports and create a vision that is even more expressive and exciting than the production vehicle already is. The wide body design gives this GLI concept the stance that every enthusiast dreams of, and the graphic treatment underlines its more aggressive nature while incorporating classic GLI elements.” -Reto Brun, Senior Director Volkswagen Design Center California.
The GLI Performance Concept includes front and rear fenders that are 0.8 inches wider, and they all come with backside vents, a custom front bumper that shows upsized grille intakes, a custom shade of kings Red Metallic paint, and much more. For the engine under the hood, there is a stock 2.0-liter engine that received a new package from RacingLine. This includes a carbon fiber cold-air intake, an intercooler, an oil management kit, and more hardware upgrades.
From all these features, the vehicle has 350 horsepower (261 kilowatts) and 372 pound-feet of torque. The power soars through the front wheels through the car’s stock six-speed manual gearbox. To stop the power of the Jetta GLI Concept is by a six-piston forged caliper brake kit. Having shared many exterior designs and performance hardware with the Golf GTI, the Jetta GLI has been a popular driver’s car over time.
