Volkswagen Is Ready To Make The Golf Brand Electric
Volkswagen has no plans to let the Golf brand be left behind and not turn the Golf vehicle electric. The Golf brand will be turned into the Volkswagen ID.2 while built on the MEB-Plus platform. Volkswagen stopped producing the e-golf electric vehicle back in December 2020 and focused more on the newer generation of EVs, but the Golf brand was still in the wind.
Volkswagen has been focusing on the ID brand, so there are plans to bring an ID.Golf to the lineup. According to some sources, Volkswagen’s smallest car got a new look in and out and may be renamed as the ID.Golf. The ID.2 will be lightweight and offer a single motor (FWD). ID.3
Volkswagen will be debuting the new ID.3 to the public in the spring (of 2023); this will be the second-generation ID.3, the most recent ID model. Currently, over half a million ID models have been distributed to customers worldwide, which is no surprise because there is a high demand for fully electric compact cars.
The ID.3 comes with the latest software update and an upgraded standard equipment package that shows a display of diagonal measurements of 12 inches, a removable luggage compartment floor, and a center console with two cup holders. To make the charging more convenient for the ID.3, there is a Plug & Charge, an Electric Vehicle Route Planner to help make things easier. Volkswagen uses the most recent generation of an integrated assist system for the ID.3 and Travel Assist with Swarm Data and Park Assist plus Memory Function.
ID.4
There is a new Volkswagen manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, TN, home to the 2023 VW ID.4. Just because the ID.4 is an EV doesn’t mean it takes away from the original gas-powered VW look and feel. Any driver will notice the changes but will still know it’s keeping to the original roots of any Volkswagen vehicle. The vehicles made in Chattanooga sink up nicely with the cars brought over from Germany.
New features for the ID.4 include a standard 12-inch infotainment screen, intelligent park assist, USB-C charging, new wheel designs, and more. Plug and Charge charging is available at Electrify America stations. The interior of the car has leather seats and door paneling with a high-quality instrument cluster. There are also buttons on the steering wheel, CarPlay, and Android Auto. The ID.4 comfortably accommodates up to five passengers and has good storage space. Higher trim models offer heated and cooled seats and a seat massage feature.
The vehicle’s exterior stays the same as last year’s model, plus a few added features, like park assist and Memory park functions. The most affordable car is the 62kWh entry-level ID.4, and the price starts at $37,495 (plus destination fee) and offers 209 miles of range and 201 horsepower. Another model is the ID.4 Pro, a RWD with an 82 kWh battery that has up to 275 miles of range for a cost of $42,495 (plus destination fee) and has a 201 horsepower motor. Lastly, the ID.4 AWD Pro has 295 horsepower with 255 miles of range for $46,295 (plus destination fee).
