Volkswagen MEB+ Is The Next Generation EV Platform
After Herbert Diess stepped down as CEO of Volkswagen, consumers wondered if the Volkswagen Group’s new CEO would continue to follow in the EV footsteps. A report from Germany said that Volkswagen had put the Project Trinity flagship EV and SSP-based models by 2026 under tentative review. Rumors are going around about how Volkswagen may open the Project Trinity factor in the year 2030. The company will decide if a new plant is needed for Project Trinity by February 2023.
Recently, Volkswagen stated that MEB will develop to MEB+ and will help take EV production to a new level. Volkswagen will put forth more effort into the production of the e-platform, and that will help with charging, storage technology, and more. The MEB+ plans to use Volkswagen’s new generation of batteries that will help boost the driving ranges to 435 miles. Having MEB+ will help grow the car lineup, with Volkswagen introducing ten new EVs by 2026. MEB+ will carry over the original MEB’s 400-volt architecture. With the ID.3, the MEB platform supports over 670,000 cars being delivered, including over 500,000 electric vehicles from Volkswagen.

Volkswagen will be debuting the new ID.3 to the public in the spring (of 2023); this will be the second-generation ID.3, the most recent ID model. The ID.3 comes with the latest software update and an upgraded standard equipment package that shows a display of diagonal measurements of 12 inches, a removable luggage compartment floor, and a center console with two cup holders. To make the charging more convenient for the ID.3, there is a Plug & Charge, an Electric Vehicle Route Planner to help make things easier.
Volkswagen uses the most recent generation of an integrated assist system for the ID.3 and Travel Assist with Swarm Data and Park Assist plus Memory Function. Volkswagen says that the ID.3 pro models Life, Business, Style, Max, and ID.3 Pro S model Tour will be distributed to customers around the fourth quarter of 2023. Currently, over half a million ID models have been distributed to customers worldwide, which is no surprise because there is a very high demand for fully electric compact cars.
The ID.3 comes with Travel Assist with Swarm Data and Park Assist Plus. From the public sketches, the new vehicle has a modern look and is appealing to the eye. The front of the ID.3 has a softer look than the line on top of the doors, which have a more aggressive look. It doesn’t seem that the Volkswagen ID.3 is heading to the U.S. anytime soon, but if it does well in other places like China, then Volkswagen may reconsider.
