Volkswagen Transporter

Volkswagen is getting ready to debut the seventh generation of its Transporter line by the spring of 2024. The all-new Transporter van will be showcased next to the all-electric ID. Buzz and the Multivan. The purpose of the Transporter van is really for businesses and to be helpful to commercial vehicle operators all around Europe. Powertrains for this van will range from plug-in hybrid to all-electric and diesel. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot to go on regarding details but the Transporter will be similar to the Ford Transit/Tourney Custom.

“With our new Transporter, we have developed state-of-the-art tools for professionals. Together with the Multivan and ID. Buzz, we can offer a VW Bus range that is tailored precisely to all our customers’ wishes.” -Lars Krause, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

More On The Electric Van

The Volkswagen brand is readying to launch the next generation of electric vehicles in 2024, basing them on a fully electric platform. The platform will be shared with Ford which means the new Volkswagen Transporter will no longer be built in Hanover, Germany. The Transporter will be presented as a shuttle or minibus that seats nine passengers and offers plenty of cargo space. An already-released electric van is the impressive Volkswagen ID. Buzz, built on the MEB Platform and slated to arrive on US shores shortly.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz

If the 2024 Volkswagen ID. Buzz looks familiar, it’s because the design of this new electric vehicle is based on the iconic Type 2 Microbus, which inspired the retro design. The VW ID. Buzz had sold out in Europe months before customer deliveries were supposed to happen. There were 10,000 cars made, and Norway grabbed 3,400 of them. German buyers got 2,500 vans, and Belgium and the Netherlands received 2,100 vans between them.

Volkswagen plans to build 15,000 ID. Buzz vans this year. Next year it will be up to 60,000 and then 130,000 later on. What this means for this retro van is that it won’t be sold out for long. The plan for this van is to go on sale in the U.S. in 2024. Here are some exterior colors for the new SUV: Lime Yellow/Candy White and Starlight Blue/Candy White.

The U.S. version features flexible seating and three rows that seat seven. The front seats have adjustable armrests and tables that fold out of the backrests for rear-seating passengers. Another great perk of this vehicle is the storage space which offers up to 40 cubic feet. This just proves how spacious the vehicle is for the whole family. The expected starting rate for this E.V. van is around $40,000 (plus destination fee).

This vehicle comes with rear- and all-wheel-drive, delivering a driving range of around 260 miles. The van will be able to charge its battery from 5-80 percent in 30 minutes. A cool idea the company plans on doing is introducing a plug-and-charge technology that gets rid of the need to use an app or a card for payment to unlock the charger. The American ID. Buzz will get 260 miles of range per charge. Europe plans on getting both a commercial and passenger version of the ID. Buzz, America is getting just the long-wheelbase passenger one. The electric motor has 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. This SUV has a touchscreen that is 10.0 inches, and a 12.0-inch display is optional. The expected ID. Buzz should come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a subscription-based WIFI hotspot, and wireless device charging.

The Wait Will Be A Bit Longer

The Volkswagen Transporter van will arrive in Europe first and then maybe it will come to the U.S. but only time will tell. In the meantime, come on down to Nye Automotive Group to check out any of the other impressive Volkswagen vehicles today. We look forward to seeing you soon!
