Volkswagen Atlas

Volkswagen vehicles aren’t just known for their impressive fuel economy, safety, adaptability features, and towing capabilities. These vehicles can handle any on- or off-road family adventures and can tow hefty cargo. Volkswagen has a variety of incredible vehicles that come with fantastic towing capabilities, so let’s jump into which vehicles those are.

Starting is the Volkswagen Atlas because it’s a roomy, powerful SUV that is comfortable to ride in and has excellent towing abilities. It comes with two different engines: a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 235 horsepower and a towing limit of 2,000 lbs. A 3.6-liter VR6 engine also gets 276 horsepower and can tow up to 5,000 lbs.

Next is the Volkswagen Tiguan, which has a 2.0-liter Inline-4 engine with 184 horsepower and can tow 2,200 lbs. The Tiguan also has a payload of 1,195 lbs, which helps carry extra cargo. Another vehicle is the Volkswagen Passat, which customers may find surprising because of its size, but this smaller car packs a strong punch. The Passat comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that gets 174 horsepower and can tow up to 1,000 lbs, plus a payload of 1,014 lbs.

The Volkswagen Touareg is a larger vehicle with a rugged 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 280 horsepower and can tow 7,716 lbs. The Touareg is a powerful and robust SUV that can handle anything on or off the road while carrying a heavy load behind it. There are significant steps for any car owner to know about their car’s towing capabilities, so it’s a safe process. For example, knowing what the vehicles can handle, having regular maintenance checks, and knowing the correct hitch for the trailer. Overall, any of these vehicles listed are excellent choices for any fun family adventure for a safe and enjoyable ride.

More On Each Vehicle

The Volkswagen Atlas SUV is getting an updated look for its 2024 model with a sportier design. The three-row SUV reached an updated look back in 2021. The Atlas and the Atlas Cross Sport have modern compositions, with new and improved grilles, headlamps, and taillamps. Except for the base model, every trim has a lit-up VW logo spread across the grille. All dashboards have a 12.0-inch infotainment screen and a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster. All systems come with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging.

The new 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan receives some needed updates, including a few new color choices and a brand new design for the SE R-Line vehicle wheels. A vehicle similar to the Tiguan is the VW Taos, but it’s a bit smaller and less expensive. The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan has four trim levels: S, SE, SE R-Line, and the SEL R-Line. There is also an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and multiple USB-C outlets.

A ninth-generation Volkswagen Passat will be released as a wagon to join the lineup. This new vehicle will be built on the MQB Evo platform beside the 2024 Tiguan, and both models will also share much of the same hardware. Inside the Passat model, there will be more legroom and cargo space, which is a huge bonus. Much carries over from the Tiguan model, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch touchscreen. Even under the hood, Volkswagen will put in different powertrains, and the battery will include DC charging.

A brand new Volkswagen SUV is hitting the market soon, and that is the 2024 Touareg, which debuted through a video ad. Remote parking has been an option for the Touareg for quite some time, but Volkswagen is ready to improve this feature. The Volkswagen ad emphasizes the optional Park Assist Pro feature by showing how a driver can get their car out of a tight parking spot without being in the vehicle. All the driver has to do is use their smartphone to control the SUV to squeeze itself out of the parking spot on its own so the driver can get in and be on their way.
